Meadowbrook Children’s Parade and Community Picnic

MACOMB, IL – On Sunday afternoon, the siren of a firetruck could be heard in the Meadowbrook subdivision. It was not an emergency but the start of the Annual Meadowbrook Children’s Parade around the subdivision. Children of all ages rode bikes, scooters, wagons and strollers following the Emmet-Chalmers firefighters and their engine. After the parade, the community members had a picnic with games and crafts for the kids. The firefighters also showed the engine and some firefighting equipment to the children and community after the parade.

“This is great!” said Jason Zornow, a firefighter with the Emmet-Chalmers Fire Protection District, helping out at the parade. “You don’t hear of many subdivisions doing something like this, I think its great for the kids and community.”
