Fire Prevention Week – Day 3

MACOMB, IL  —  Fire Prevention Week – Day 3

Understand your smoke alarm!

There are two types of smoke alarms – ionization and photoelectric. An ionization smoke alarm is quicker to warn about flaming fires. Photoelectric alarms are quicker to warn about smoldering fires. For the best protection, both types of alarms or combination ionization-photoelectric alarms, also known as dual sensor smoke alarms, are recommended.

People who are hard-of-hearing or deaf can use special alarms.  These alarms have strobe lights and bed shakers.
