Volunteer

Fight Fires, Save Lives, Volunteer.

We’ve been waiting for you.

Did you know over 70% of the firefighters in our country are volunteer? Men and women who have jobs and/or families giving their time to protect their friends, neighbors and strangers. Training and learning skills that few know but many admire. Taking pride in themselves and their department as their only reward. Do you have what it takes to be a volunteer firefighter?

The Emmet-Chalmers Fire Protection District is always looking for additional volunteers for our department. All calls provide a wide range of roles to fill and tasks to complete. From driving and operating the engines to interior firefighting, even manning the station to assist on calls, everyone is important and an equal part of the team. Whether you are an upstanding citizen with no fire or emergency experience at all or you have just moved to this area from another fire department and have years of experience, we can use your help.

Volunteers are hard to come by. These days, with the economy and with many families that have both parents working more and for less pay, it is hard to find time to commit. All we ask is for one evening a week to train with us. The benefits are:

  • You will gain the satisfaction and pride of helping others and providing an essential service to our community.
  • You will meet new and interesting people from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages, occupations and interests.
  • You will have a broad support group and share a unique camaraderie and brotherhood.
  • You will experience exciting action and be given opportunities to enrich your education.

If you live in the Macomb, Illinois area and are 19 years or older stop by our station on the first, third or forth Tuesday of the month at 6 pm to get started. We hope to see you there!
